[IHMN] In Which the Blogger Receives His Meridian Miniatures Kickstarter Figures

A couple of days ago, my long awaited figures from the Meridian Miniatures Kickstarter showed up in the post.

While not at the highest level of support, I chose two infantry sets and a specialist set.

I also ordered a separate set of energy rifles - these will be Model 1895 Higgs-Rothersey ARC rifles.

The specialist pack for my level of support contains two officers - I wanted the great coat clad officers and troopers as I really like the painted examples on the Meridian Miniatures Kickstarter site. You can also see the head sprues for my infantry sets.

The first head sprue has diving-helmet-like heads.

The second head sprue has these vaguely guards-like crested helmet with breather mask.

I ordered two body types for my infantry - firing line ...

... and skirmishers. I intend to mix the two body types together. I intend to end up with one squad of infantry with the diving-helmet heads - troopers for Captain Nemo - and one squad of infantry with guards-like helmets - Okhrana troopers to be commanded by either Olga Petronova or Feodor Sonavavich.

I will remove the base slottas on these figures and mount them directly on washers, my preferred basing style, as I have done with other slotta base figures.

In Which the Blogger gets Surveyed

A busy few weeks have eaten my time.

Tonight I had hoped to post photos of four more completed characters but none of pictures I took were in focus. I have also pretty much finished my five Selenites from Aegis Figures, just waiting on some "tufts" to arrive from a local on-line Hobby store called Hobby Supplies. If all goes to plan, I hope to have some photos for tomorrow.

In good news received today, my survey for my Meridian Miniatures Kickstarter rewards hit my Inbox. As I mentioned back in July, I had backed this project to Corporal level and am now looking forward to the arrival of my great-coated soldiers. I also have a couple of officers coming as well, plus a sprue of Arc rifles.

While the standard troops are scheduled for a September release, it appears that the great-coat troopers will be following along a little bit later. I'm really looking forward to their arrival.

In Which the Blogger Considers the Meridian VSF Kickstarter

Much to my delight, the Meridian Miniatures Kickstarter was successfully funded. I really liked the look and flexibility of the greens, as posted, and in particular the different looks that could be created by the different head types.

I decided that I preferred the great-coat wearing bodies as I wanted to be able to create sinister minions, or perhaps Russian Special Forces.

As my Kickstarter support level grants me two six-man squads, I have decided that I like the look of both the Skirmishers and the Firing Line sets. I'm thinking of mixing the two sets of poses together, which will give me a nice selection of poses for my skirmish teams.

I decided to stretch my budget to include a sprue of Arc-rifles because they look so cool.

Half of the soldiers will have these slightly sinister Minion heads (No. 20), while Head No. 34 will probably be the head of choice for my Russian Special Forces.

Completion date for this project is set for September - I'm really looking forward to getting these figures.
